Black & white – a man walks into a building with swinging saloon doors. Two men (Orson Welles, Erskine Sanford) are having an altercation while others carry a variety of furniture through a doorway next to them. A woman (Ruth Warrick) says ‘I don’t know, it’s late,’ cut to the man she is speaking with (Orson Welles) who replies with a smile ‘it’s early.’ Two people in the foyer of a building signposted “Walter Parks Thatcher.” A woman in sequin-covered dress stands on stage as curtains rise and begins to perform an opera. Finally, a man in the audience (Orson Welles) gives a standing ovation.
