A man (Thomas Mitchell) is soapboxing under a ’40 Acres and a Mule’ sign – ‘because we’re your friends, and you’re gonna become voters, and you’re gonna vote like your friends do!’ A man in top hat while approaching a woman says ‘you ain’t planning on running away,’ to which the woman (Vivian Leigh) replies ‘don’t you dare try to stop me, I’m never going back to that hospital.’ A woman attempts to swing at a man who dodges, and she instead tumbles down an ornate staircase. A silhouette of a woman sobbing in front of orange sky. Finally, a man (George Reeves) kisses a woman’s hand – the woman (Vivian Leigh) is at the very least disinterested, if not disgusted.

Directed by Victor Fleming, George Cukor, and Sam Wood, the film follows the romantic pursuits of plantation owner’s daughter Scarlett (Vivian Leigh) in the midst of the American Civil War (between the North and South of the USA, predominantly on the topic of slavery) and subsequent Reconstruction era (the period in which former slaves were becoming integrated in mainstream society).
