A man sits in his office chair speaking to another, discussing someone named “Vandamm.” A woman (Eva Marie Saint) stares into space – a doorbell rings and she snaps out of it, ‘be with you in a minute.’ A man is saying goodnight to someone over the phone – after he hands the phone to a security guard who is confused/frustrated by this and hangs up the phone. The same woman from earlier is telling a man (Cary Grant) to change his clothes – ‘and where do you propose I do that, in Marshall-Fields’s window?’ The interior of a busy restaurant on the side of a mountain. In an open barren field divided by road a man (Cary Grant) runs from a propeller plane, ducks at the last second.
